Airport limousine companies can benefit from a better blog strategy.
It was 2002 when I secured my first marketing project for a ground transportation company. Even though the Internet had begin to establish itself, it was not the first choice for many businesses and not a number one priority on most marketing budgets. This was around the time where most businesses were willing to spend money creating a website but sinking any marketing or advertising dollars into this area wasn't deemed as smart as it might be today.
Then, there was the limousine service, airport shuttle service and taxi ground transportation services. I am very happy to say that in 2014 most of these ground transportation industry participants are well up to speed and have eagerly grasped the concept of inbound marketing. I feel I have some license to be a little hard, but honest when writing about this industry simply because I was intimately part of it for close to a decade. No offense is meant. With that being said, I am sure it is no secret to current owners and general managers of both local and national limousine services, airport shuttle services or other forms of ground transportation services that things were very different than they are today. Many of the larger and certainly most of the smaller, more local airport limousine services were built from scratch by their owners. That reality can make for a unique business environment as upper management has always been in a position where they have been forced to do everything themselves. As is with many small businesses, if you build it from scratch, you have to be able to wear every different hat. Delegation can sometimes be difficult for this breed of entrepreneur. This also includes marketing.
As I have been working for the same airport limousine company since 2002, I have had the unique privledge of having a front row seat to how the marketing attitudes, tools, resources and experiences have developed over the last 15 years. It may have taken a little longer than other industries but I do think it is safe to say that for the most part, airport limousine and airport shuttle services have caught up with inbound marketing technology. Most competitors in this ground transportation industry understand what SEO (search engine optimization) is, what a blog looks like and even has made their attempt at PPC marketing with Google Adwords.
As a Certified Inbound Marketing Professional and ex-airport shuttle company owner, I created this blog because I believe there are still many areas where the ground transportation industry could benefit. Specifically in the three main areas of blog development, social media exposure and engagement and developing an analytics solution that will allow management to measure every aspect of their marketing efforts. As I have repeated many times before, "if you cant measure it, you can't manage it".
To begin, I want to stress the importance of a well developed blog strategy for airport limousine services. I completely understand that as an owner, general manager or even marketing professional that you may have made this attempt already with limited success. This is a common response I hear when speaking with ground transportation companies. One of the major misunderstood aspects of a successful blog is it's consistency. It is easy to terminate a blog project after a month or so when you're not experiencing the growth that you may have expected. Consistency is important for many reasons but one is the simple fact that any effective inbound marketing solution has to include the production of fresh content and a blog strategy is one of the best ways to do this. A consistent (2 to 3 times per week) blog strategy adds to the total number of pages under your domain, that is a positive. A new web page provides that much more opportunity for SEO and keyword attraction or exposure, thats a positive. A regular blogging strategy shares new information that could attract new inbound linking from other websites, thats a positive.
This is only a partial list of all of the benefits of a better blog strategy for airport limousine services. Download this short checklist that will provide many more specifics and ideas so as an owner or general manager of your ground transportation company, you can be sure that those in charge of your inbound marketing will have some more tools to create a better blog strategy for your website.
